If you can make time to answer a question from an very diffuser interested, but diffuser ignorant person…I thank you.
What do you mean when you say to build the diffuser Inverse or not? And, what is the difference in the sound to the ear between the two? CRB
Hi Charles, thank you for your comment!
The main difference is in the design, it won’t change acoustically that much that you can hear a difference between the 2. Choose the one you like visually more
Hi, I am using your app for the first time, it looks great, thank you!!!
I am building a QRD diffuser and I have a question as for the backplate. As it doesn’t say, does it have any importance the thickness of the wood? Should I choose the same thickness as the one for the sides and top?
thank you
Hi Esteban, Thanks for the Question and for using my app.
The backplate thickness is up to you, it shouldn’t affect anything that would be audible. It can be as thin as the Fins between the wells, or as thick as you want.
I would prefer the thinner version as it has no effect but adds weight to the whole diffuser
Excellent app my friend. Going to start building a 2D QRD 59 or 67 tomorrow ! Just wanted to check did you recommend a specific thickness plywood for the back? Also do you know what kind of stands i could build to raise the height as i cant mount it on the wall? Thanks again
Hi Aseem,
I’m glad that you’re using my app and planning to build such a great diffuser (feel free to send me some pictures to my email address after they’re ready)
Also I think the thickness and the mounting is totally up to you, it does not change the main acoustic properties of the diffuser. I think you don’t need to use very thick wood as it will make it only heavier. Try to aim the height of your head in the listening position when building a stand so the center of the diffuser will be in the same height as your head. But nothing happens if it will be higher or anything.
Great site you have here.. It’s difficult to find
good quality writing like yours nowadays. I truly appreciate individuals like you!
Take care!!

Thank you for your great app, it makes everything so much easier!
I´d like to know if there is a way to calculate a QRD with shifted wells.
Thanks for your comment!
Unfortunately, there is no possibility in my application to calculate a QRD with shifted wells.
